5 Eco-Friendly Tips That'll Help You Save on Your Electric Bill
Electric bill charges paper form on the table

Everything that can lower our bills and reduce greenhouse gas emissions is a great help. Switching to solar energy can cut bills and carbon footprint by a large degree. However, it can be quite expensive so we have to make do with what we have and save money.

Covid-19 may have turned our lives upside down but that doesn’t mean we can slack off on preserving our environment, right? Here are some of the best tips for saving on your electric bill.

1. Install Proper Insulation in Your Home

The moment you turn on your HVAC system, the heat and/or cold coming out of it doesn’t stay in the house. A bit of this energy escapes through the roof and walls around the room. Because of this, the system needs to work longer and consume more current in the process.

There are a lot of recycled insulation materials to insulate your home. You can do it yourself but know that hiring an insulation professional is also an option. Take this opportunity to check and fix any leaky ductwork in your HVAC system.

2. Clean the AC Air Filter

Did you know why you need to clean your air filter often? This is crucial in running the AC in an efficient way to reach your desired temperature. To reduce your bill, turn on Power Saving mode and keep the settings eco-friendly.

If you want to buy a new AC, look for one that carries an Energy Star rating. It shows the annual energy consumption and efficiency of the product. The more you save energy, the less you are contributing to the pollution in the atmosphere.

3. Limit Your Electrical Consumption

Remove your devices and appliances from the plug when not in use. Buy a smart power strip to eliminate vampire power loss. Lower the temperature of your water heater and air conditioner for at least 8 hours.

One of the best tips for saving energy is to open your windows during summer. This is to let in the natural breeze and lighting inside the house. This way, you don’t have to use electricity when you don’t have to.

4. Cheapest Time to Use Electricity

Avoid using any major appliances during peak hours. The rates may vary from city to city but you can use this to reduce peak demand charges in your next bill. Ask your utility provider for the exact time for peak hours but it is usually from 9 am to 9 pm.

Is your bill not getting any lower after everything? Start considering switching to another electricity provider. Electrical companies like Cirro Energy that offers some of the most affordable rates will be easier in your wallet in the long run.

5. Do Your Chores by Hand

Yes, this will make your chores so much harder than usual. Stopping your reliance on electricity is still the best way how to save on your energy bill.

Scrape the leftover food into the compost bin and air dry it yourself after washing it. Line up your laundry outside; let the sun and the breeze do the job for you. Ditch the vacuum and use a broom/mop to clean your floors.

5 Eco-Friendly Ways to Reduce Your Electric Bill

Cut down on electric bill costs and help the environment with these tips today! Make your home greener and a friend to the environment now!
