Top Privacy Fence Ideas for Safety and Aesthetics in 2021

in Home Automation and Security Systems

Privacy fences are a great idea for creating a boundary on your premises, protecting your privacy, and yet improving the aesthetics of your property at the same time. They can protect your home from many dangers and intrusive onlookers. There are quite a few choices for choosing privacy fences in 2021 because the pandemic has forced families around the world to create their all-encompassing universe.

Here are some privacy fence ideas to inspire you.

1. Wood Privacy Fences

Wood privacy fences offer a classic style, but you can still manage to create an old-world charm based on the color and texture of the wood you choose. A finely polished wood fence is a treat for the eyes. It is also an eco-friendly option. The fencing panels of a wood fence allow the cool breeze to flow through it.

They are very strong and can last for years if you give them the timely polish required to maintain them. They are easy to paint over and are as easy to customize. So if you want to add some decorative touches, all your need is a nail gun to add some fixtures. There are multiple slat spacing options and panel designs to choose from as well.

2. Metal Privacy Fences

Metal fences are very strong and durable, and they can handle seasonal changes and weather damage very well. You can get them in sleek designs or with corrugated panels. There are metal posts available, especially for fencing, so installing them is very simple.

They can be a little more expensive than other fencing options. Still, considering they can last through generations with some care, they provide an outstanding return on investment, giving your family the privacy it deserves.

3. Natural Privacy Fences

Natural fences are lovely if you want the privacy that a fence provides and yet do not want to feel that you are fenced in. The sight of an actual metal or wood fence makes some people feel they are cramped and shutting everyone out. They cannot take in a few feet of solid fencing around them without feeling a bit caged in.

Natural fences may have a basic wood structure, but it is entirely covered with plants, flower shrubs or trees. The combination of fencing and plant creates a buffer between your property and that of the neighbor without making it feel like you have raised a wall.

You can use trees like red cedar, cypress, and plants like lilac shrubs to create an intricate and natural barrier. It will be like having a dense garden at the perimeter of the property. Yes, you have to care for the plants and shrubs, and you also need to trim them regularly to hold their shape. But it creates a stunning appearance and acts as a fully functional fence at the same time.

4. Traditional Privacy Fences

Traditional fences are usually the standard wooden picket fences that you can see around many suburban homes. They are not very high, but you can build them to any height if you want absolute privacy.

This kind of fencing is a beautiful idea if your home has traditional architecture. The arched fence or the scalloped fence design is good if your home is located on a slope and you need curves on the fences. You can buy pre-built panels and ask professionals to set them up for you.

5. Masonry Privacy Fences

Masonry privacy fences are made of stones, and they have a very charming and rustic look about them, as opposed to contemporary PVC fences. It is like building a stone wall, and you need professional help to build it up. The stacked-stone design will make your home look like it is out of a fairytale. Stone walls are also very effective in cutting out noise.

If you desire something more contemporary, you should opt for the gabion wall built with larger rock pieces stacked inside metal frames. Build them anywhere, and they are very affordable and durable at the same time. You do not even have to dig a foundation for them. With a metal and rock combination, you get dual textures on the frame, making it a contemporary design but inspired by old structures.

6. Vinyl Privacy Fence

Vinyl and PVC are lighter materials and fairly inexpensive. They require negligible maintenance and can be easily installed. You can use them effectively to block your neighbor’s view. You also get to choose from a variety of colors, vinyl textures, and often prints.

However, you might have to replace them every few years because vinyl is prone to weather damage, and the PVC can become brittle from being constantly exposed to heat, cold, and rain.

With so many privacy fence ideas, you can make your backyard look good as well as enjoy complete privacy from onlookers.
