Three tools every gardener should add to their collection

in Gardening

There are some tools that every gardener needs. It’d be near impossible to tend to any garden without a good spade, a watering can and a sturdy pair of gardening gloves. There are also some tools that are less popular but could be a huge help for any gardener. Here are three tools you should consider buying to help your garden look its best.

Heat tools

We all know most flowers need a good level of sunshine to be able to grow properly. If left in the shade, some plants may never even blossom. Sometimes extra-strong heat can also help you with some other important jobs around the garden. For example, if you want to repaint some old wooden garden furniture, a heat gun is a great way of taking off any of the old flaking paint. They can also help with more serious construction projects, for example, welding together a metal gazebo or repairing a metal gate.

Heat tools like these can help with so many jobs around the garden and are well worth the small price tag. They are very durable and will last many years, unlike some tools that can rust or even break after much use. Over the years you might need to buy a new heating element for these tools, but these can be picked up very cheaply and are very easy to install.

Rain barrel

As well as sunlight, all gardens need a regular supply of water. During the fall and in the colder months, this is no problem at all. Often all the water our garden needs is delivered from the skies by mother nature herself. During the hotter months, it takes a lot more effort to keep the garden watered. You might find yourself having to fill up your watering can several times to manage to do one lap of the garden. If you need to do this every day, you’ll find you’re ending up using a lot of water.

You could use a hosepipe to make the process faster, but these often waste even more water than using a watering can. As well as costing you money, using more water directly from your tap can also be very bad for the environment. Instead of using freshwater, why not collect rainwater that you can reuse. You can find many stylish water barrels that will fit into your garden and hold the water until you need it.

An Internet-enabled device

While many people think the old-fashioned ways are the best when it comes to gardening, modern technology can also be a huge help. With so many different species and varieties, it can be near impossible to remember the conditions every single plant needs to grow. There are a number of apps, some of which can even help you identify species of plants if you’re not sure of the name, and provide you with clear instructions on how to treat the plant. Make sure you have a device that’ll allow you to access this important information whenever you need a helping hand.
