7 Interior Styling Rules You Need to Know

in Interior Designing

If you have landed on this article, it is safe to assume you are looking for ways to spice up your living space. Why not! Home is where the heart is, and that is a good enough reason why you need to style your home the right way.

Your home should radiate your style and personality while also maintaining the elegance your perfect home deserves. However, most people think interior design is something exclusively done for the homes of the richest.

While a good interior designer certainly does not come in cheap, you could wear their hat for your home.

To help you do that, we are spilling out some rules every good interior designer would follow to make a perfect home.

-Minimal Design

The first thing every designer wants you to know is: Less is More. We know you have always dreamt of putting your antique display in the showcase and how you want to bring some cool sculptures to your place, but is that a good idea?

You want to let your place breathe, and you would enjoy some free area later, so why clutter it now? Go for minimal as well as flexible accessories. You should opt for convertible furniture, which can be easily pushed into a compact box shall you need more space later.

– Insulate/shield with style

Natural light is good for your health as well as your house. However, too much of nothing is good. You want to shield excessive light, noise, radiation, dirt, and so many pollutants that could hamper your living. Use net curtains, outdoor shutters, and better yet, use roller blinds for that. Roller blinds are modern, edgy, and very good at giving you the desired outcome from a barrier.

-Use pastels

Yes, bright colours do catch your eye, but they can be annoying sometimes. Too bright and glowy, who needs that 24×7! You want to paint your house in pleasant shades. That does not mean you have to ditch colourful walls, go for less shiny and matte hues.

Pastels are not just in with fashion but also home decor. Go for pastel green, pink, and cream to make your house every bit Parisian.

-Make your walls expressive

They say walls have ears, so by that implication, they must also have a face! Does your wall have a pretty face?

If not, you can make one for your walls. You should get your paint rollers and funky sprays out because if you have always wanted a house that is your own, you have dreamt of walls that look your own. You could make use of funky wallpapers and graffiti stickers as well.

Make your walls so beautiful that your guests leave your house with a thousand selfies.

-Recycle your furniture

While the whole design game is about breathing freshness into your abode, here’s something more scalable. You don’t have to go above your budget and get everything new. You could start with what you have as well, for instance, if you have rusting iron chairs, you could paint them. You could stitch your torn off sofa chunks using multi-coloured fabrics. All this will not only make your place look new, but it will also extend the shelf life of your furniture.

-Flora power

What better way to redo your place then to paint it all green? No, no, we don’t suggest LITERALLY painting it green, but a little bit of flora here and there does wonders! You need a place that’s not as polluted as the rest of the city. You also need good fragrance and pleasant flowers.

This is exactly why you buy a few colourful pots or DIY some, that’s even better. Use those pots to make your own garden. You could even plant certain vegetables or medicinal shrubs to start your own farming venture from your home.
