How To Choose The Right Size Of Wall Art?

in Home Decor Ideas

Gorgeous walls make a home look welcoming. But, what does an overcrowded wall look like? Mess, of course.

Wall hangings and tastefully curated paintings can add charisma to your walls. But, you have to know how to choose the right size of wall art to avoid making things look overwhelming. This blog gives you the right insights into how you can decorate your walls with exotic wall art keeping the size and aesthetics in mind.

Let us now look at what you need to do.

  • Measure the dimensions of the particular wall that you have in mind.
  • Follow simple math to find the perfect width of the wall art. You have to multiply the width of the all by 0.57. Now, suppose you have a cluster of wall arts in mind, you can simply use this simple formula to fetch what width should your group of wall arts have. Also, keep in mind that there should be at least a gap of 2 to 3 inches between the frames.
  • The next thing is finding out the height of your wall arts provided you have a vertical piece. Now, keep in mind that the area of your wall art must not cover more than two-third to three-fourth of the area of the space that is the open wall.
  • Now, Tip is to go for bigger wall arts because smaller ones don’t add to the charm of your room rather, they can make your walls look incomplete. But, if you want to install a group of wall arts then you can choose smaller ones.

Here are a few more pointers for wall art sizes that you might find helpful if you have a gallery-style design in mind:

  • Oversized: The length is usually 100 cm or more. Instead of just directly buying a piece so large, you have to take a closer look at your wall and whether or not it will be able to contain it. The oversized ones grab the attention within a blink of an eye. These add glamour to the room when you place them above aesthetic pieces of furniture such as a high-back chair or in the dining hall, above a couch, and more.
  • Large: The length of the frames ranges between 80 and 100 cm. These look good on either side of a smaller piece.
  • Medium: The length doesn’t exceed 70 cm. If you have group wall art design in mind, then this might work pretty well for you.
  • Small: The length of the frames ranges between 45 and 59 cm. You can club these with as many as six wall arts, and they will look pretty together. But, in case you want an impactful impression of the wall arts on your wall, then you can use an assorted group of wall arts having different sizes.
  • Mini: These are the smallest ones with frame sizes, not more than 25 to 44 cm.

P.S. You will not find any rule book to guide you with how you can go about the size selection. However, these insightful tips for wall arts can surely boost your creativity and confidence.
