Choosing a design and color for your bedroom goes way beyond just the aesthetics. Whatever choice you make can affect you psychologically and the way you carry on with your daily activities. Since you’ll be spending at least eleven hours in your bedroom daily, making the right choice is mandatory. While purchasing cool bed sheets in UK is one way to boost your mood and improve the quality of your sleep, you still have to work on the overall interior of your bedroom if you want to see significant changes.

If you ever feel down or somewhat awkward every time you step foot into your room, chances are that your bedroom needs a revamp. Want to know how? Let’s get right to the psychology of decorating.

The Psychology of Decorating: Interior design, Color, and Mood

The aura of your room is dependent on what design you choose. Your personality is also attached to these decisions, and a wrong match can affect your mood. Here are some ways your bedroom design can affect your mood and tips to finding your perfect match;

1. The Power of Colors

Colors are linked tightly to our emotions. They give off certain signals and energy that triggers several emotions. Warm and cool colors give off the different energy you feel in your room. Below are some of the most common room colors and their attachment to your emotion;

Red

Red is bright and beautiful. It is the color of love, danger, and strength all at once. The sight of red can make you energized, so using it as the main color for your bedroom design is not a great idea. Your bedroom should be a place of peace, you don’t need that much energy there.

Green

Green represents health, wellness, and nature. It gives the mind and soul a soothing feel when you surround yourself with it. Green also gives off outdoor vibes. Avoid this color if this vibe isn’t a good match for you.

Blue

Figuratively, blue describes the feeling of sadness. However, it is not the case when using it for your room. Blue décor will keep you calm and relaxed, which is just the right mood for bedtime.

Yellow

A color of happiness. The bright shade of this color can uplift your mood. But bear in mind that too much yellow can make it difficult to sleep or stay calm.

2. Declutter with Furniture

An untidy room will make it difficult to get some rest. You get the feeling that there’s so much to do. Try decluttering with furniture. Keep clothes in wardrobes instead of leaving them on the chair or floor.

3. Add a Touch of You

Make your bedroom your personal space. Get creative and place objects that interest you in it. Try out teddy bears, stickers, LED lights, bookshelves, indoor plants. Whatever sparks your interest will do just fine.

4. Reduce the Light

Excess light in your bedroom can make it difficult to concentrate or sleep when needed. Place curtains over windows with excess light penetration and turn off all light bulbs. Being able to control the light in your bedroom will keep you at ease.

Conclusion

Your bedroom is your place of solace. Making it comfortable will improve your physical and mental health extensively. Go for neutral colors like white, black, and gray if the other colors aren’t within your preference. All that matters is your level of comfort.
