Are you thinking about moving, or at least entertaining the idea of change? It can be hard to know if and when you are, in fact, ready for a move.

The difference between an in-home inconvenience and a dealbreaker can be minuscule and challenging to differentiate. That’s why it’s essential that you consider each and every obstacle or concern in your home to determine if now is the time to make that change.

If you’re a little curious or at least open to the idea of making a move, consider some of these telltale signs it might be time to move on to greener pastures.

Things are growing stale.

If you’ve lived in the same place for a while, you’ve likely fallen into a routine. There’s nothing wrong with knowing all the best places in your area to eat, and which stores near you offer the best price on groceries, but familiarity can also become boredom.

Perhaps your street score isn’t what it once was, or your favourite places have closed down and been replaced with stores irrelevant to your interests.

Change is important. Some say it’s essential. If your home isn’t bringing you the joy it once did, it might be time to reach out to real estate professionals like the real estate agents at Harvey Kalles to help you turn your housing hopes into a reality.

Your wish list keeps growing.

Minor inconveniences add up, and after a certain point, you may feel ready for an upgrade. Some things can easily be fixed, such as paint colours or a new rug to refresh an area. On the other hand, things like updating old appliances can be costly, as can significant renovations, which run the risk of going over budget. One in three renovations usually do.

Even then, there may be external items on your list that are out of your control, such as lack of building amenities, consistently out-of-service elevators, and parking costs. Or perhaps your previously clear skyline view now faces a new neighbour’s balcony.

You’ve outgrown your space.

In the last few years, you may have found your home has started to get a little tight to live in. It may start with small warning signs like constantly stubbing your toe on boxes or having to wrestle your closet every time you pull out an item. Listen to these signs and start to plan accordingly.

Scan the room you’re in right now. Do you see any clutter that really would be better suited in another room? Perhaps previously free floor space is now taken up by a pet bed, crate, or toy basket. Maybe you unexpectedly started working from home in the last couple of years, and now the temporary office set up in the middle of your kitchen is for a job that has become permanently remote.

If you find that you’ve begun purchasing different types of furniture specifically because it has built-in storage, it might be time to upgrade to a larger space.
