Date night is great for all couples. You get to spend time together, get to know each other further, and generally have a nice night together. However, date nights can sometimes be spent at home, and it’s the perfect time to let your date know how you feel about them and show them how special they are to you. Whether you’ve been in love for a long time or have only recently met a special someone, date night is your perfect chance to make an impact. Anything goes, from foolish to sweet to naughty, and a mixture of these aspects leaves a lot of space for both physical and emotional intimacy.

Whether you’re a homeowner, or you’re hunkering down in a monthly rental, there’s no reason not to choose a date night at home instead of venturing out, especially now that the pandemic poses many restrictions. Not sure what to do for your loved one? Here are some perfectly romantic, fun, and sweet gestures to help you get your apartment ready for date night.

Clean up!

That’s right, we’re looking at you, boys! While this appears to be the most sensible thing to do, people still forget about it. If you really want your apartment to look cozy and welcoming to your date, you’ll have to clean it first. Get rid of everything you don’t need to make sure it is tidy and spotless. Now is as fine a time as any to say good-bye to needless bits of furniture, too. Remember, if you’re about to rearrange and declutter, things in your living room can be relocated quickly, even if only temporarily, to make a great impression. You should start planning the decoration and details only after that has been completed.

Set the mood

Better yet, set several of them. You should set up your dining room for intimate dining, your living room for dancing and fun, and your bedroom for everything you both love. Bring out the finest china or go for paper plates, whatever makes you happy and suits you as a couple. A strip poker game is always enjoyable, too, and just recalling your best times together in casual chat will create an environment that’s primed for passion.

Cook up a (romantic) storm

What you cook for your date doesn’t have to be fancy, but it should be sexy. Food consumed using your hands like ribs and tacos can be super sensual, as can textural treats like raw oysters and strawberries dipped in chocolate. Go easy on the booze to begin with so you don’t fatigue too quickly to enjoy all the fun. You will also want to keep the carbs down and the proteins up to give you stamina for what’s to come. And don’t underestimate the passionate power of chocolate! Plus, the divine smells from your kitchen wafting through your apartment are sure to impress your date.

Hearts will go a long way…

Since it’s a date night, don’t hold back on decorating your apartment with hearts! There are so many heart-shaped things you could buy, such as heart soap, pot holders, balloons, cookies, treats, pillows, streamers, underwear, hats, coasters, you name it. Simply head to the nearest 99-cent store and buy heart decorations (perhaps from the Valentine’s aisle if it’s that time of year) and flowers to decorate your apartment with. If you can’t find anything heart shaped, why not buy some cardboard and make them yourself!

…and so will candles!

One of the first thoughts that comes to mind when arranging a romantic date is to set the tone with some pleasant smells. Talking of smells, don’t forget to put on their favourite perfume or cologne.

Of all the nights, date night is the nights that you can try some scented candles or oil diffusers to make the air in your apartment nice and fragrant. They can even act as lovely decor in your apartment in general!. You can put them on desks, on shelves, on the floor, almost everywhere, and they help set the mood for a really romantic evening. Don’t forget to set the mood with soft lighting!

Create a cozy corner

If you’re looking to spend a nice evening at home, it may be a good time for you to buy some new pillows and throws. These small additions can be enough to make your home more inviting and can be a nice place to cuddle in front of the TV if you’re planning to watch something with your loved one.

The bedroom is another area of the apartment you’re going to want to make cozy. Bedding is definitely the focal point of the space, so you should do your best to make it right. This means placing the finest bed covers on your bed to impress your date. Don’t have any? Go and buy some!

Ultimately, this is a night for you and your date, and you know the most about your date! Choose the ideas you both like and start planning your love nest to keep both of you happy.
