Mistakes To Avoid While Choosing The Color Scheme For Your Kitchen

  • Ignoring The Natural Light
    • Not Adding Balance to the Equation
    • Not Considering Contrast

Let’s be honest: choosing colors for anything, be it clothes or rooms or even your shoes, is a lot more than what meets one’s eyes. When it comes to making combinations, things get a lot more complicated. Concerning all the hues and shades out there, there is no surprise when people make the wrong decision and have a disastrous color scheme for their rooms. Having that said, there are some color errors that one should steer clear from when choosing the color scheme for their house.

Concerning the kitchen, things are different compared to painting the other rooms of the house. For instance, when you want to choose a color scheme for the daughters’ rooms, going for standard pink or lighter, feminine colors are the go-to option. For the rooms for boys, dark colors are the standard choices. However, when it comes to kitchens, there is no standard rule or choice. The decision to use color schemes for your kitchen entirely depends on the vibe you want it to give.

That being said, let’s talk about the typical color scheme mistakes one makes for their kitchen.

Ignoring The Natural Light

You might not have given it any importance before, but the natural light plays a significant role in the kitchen’s color scheme and the vibes it offers. If you are not putting lighting in importance and ignoring the effect it has on the color; there is a chance that you may end up seeing a different color than the one you intended to see.

It would be best if you went for color schemes that are complemented in light. Before making the decision, the expert kitchen remodelers at Kitchen Infinity recommend that you need to look into samples. Once you do that, paint those samples on different locations of the kitchen. Observe how light changes the colors during different times of the day. Seeing the color naturally turn different, darker, or lighter concerning the undertones would allow you to understand why or why not going with the color scheme is the right choice for you. It would be best if you did this because once you notice the changes after the entire kitchen is painted, redoing it would be a long, tedious process you do not want to get into.

Not Adding Balance to the Equation

When you deal with multiple, different colors for the kitchen as the scheme, one thing you need to focus on is making the right balance. Know that there is a place of neutral colors in your kitchen, and there is a place for bold ones. However, if you feel that you are adding too much of either one of the colors, you are in between the risk of having a too boring kitchen or an overstimulating one. Therefore, meeting the middle ground is essential.

In this case, we have the perfect trick that can help one out. This trick is known as the 10/30/60. With this rule, you get to decide which percentage your kitchen should be covered by 60% and 30% and 10%. Usually, 60% is what is known as the base color, a neutral shade. The next is the secondary color, which is 30%, and finally, you have 10%, which is the bold shade.

Balancing your kitchen’s color scheme is essential, and this method allows you to do it correctly.

Not Considering Contrast

The thing about color scheming is that you would want every room in the house to have a unique look, a look of their own. The same applies when you imagine the kitchen. You do not want the kitchen to have the same color schemes as the rest of the house’s rooms. Why? It gets too boring. This ensures that the design element remains hidden, and there’s no beauty in that now.

So, here are some common color scheme errors people tend to overlook when painting their kitchen. Now that you know about them make sure not to repeat them!
